Fair Warning: Listening to any of these podcast might result in you getting hooked on them.
Total time wasted: Who cares? They're awesome!
I had missed the initial hoo-ha surrounding the Startup Podcast but it didn't matter because it's good no matter when you listen to it. They're now in season 2 and I am enthralled by this podcast. If you're someone who is thinking of starting a business or already have one this is a great podcast to listen to. You hear the real nitty gritty details that happen behind a company. Season 1 talked about how to launch a business but I'm finding season 2 to be very compelling since it follows two co-founders through building and trying to make their startup successful. The issues that they go through seem very familiar and it's great to know that you're not alone, especially in a world where people only advertise the 'good stuff'. It's like Serial for entrepreneurs. Totally worth the listen.
I've been listening to Chris Hardwick for a while now and I'm pretty sure I have a girlie crush on his voice, the way he speaks, his jokes... I guess... I'm crushing on Nerdist. Nerdist is one of those funny, easy going podcasts that I listen to when I want to relax, laugh and not think of anything serious. I love the casual conversation Chris and his co-hosts have with their guest and often times I learn a little about the creative processes of all these talented people. Plus, you do get some insider info on movies, comics, books and such straight from the horses mouth, err... the director or actor, or writer or something. It keeps the nerd in me happy.
Another one from Chris Hardwick and team. We're alive has officially ended but damn it was a good show while it was on. This is a zombie podcast people. And yes, it is good. I used to listen to it while biking and hot damn it made me cycle faster cuz well, it felt like zombies were after me. If you start listening to it, be warned, you will get hooked.
I'm sure by now everyone and their hip grandma knows about Serial. Since I had never heard of This American Life, the narrative format of this show blew me away. I was hooked the moment I hit 'Play'. I love that they took on an actual real-life story and followed that story till it came to its natural conclusion. Can't wait for season 2!
GPP is a new podcast started by a friend of mine, Claire Pelletreau and only has four episodes on air at the time of writing this but it's slowly growing in episodes and listeners. I love how Claire digs into the nitty gritty of what goes on behind the smooth facade of a business. I mean, we always hear about the fancy stuff, the big money, the smooth sailing, and Claire wants to know the details of what really happens. She wants you to get paid! Check it out.
